ACQUISITIVE DAY BRINGS HDP INTO FLINT FAMILY

Consolidation in the ink and consumables market has continued as Hydro Dynamic Products (HDP) was acquired by Flint-owned Day International. The West Sussex-based manufacturer of pressroom chemicals was formerly a subsidiary of Usher-Walker and Sun Chemical.

Dennis Wolters, Day International president and chief executive, said: “We are pleased to add the HDP product line and technologies to Day’s portfolio of products.

“HDP will further enhance Day’s ability to provide customers with more choices and greater value.”

Headquartered at Shore-ham-by-Sea, HDP has a global distribution across five continents. It offers a range of pressroom consumable products including printing blankets, pressroom chemistry and press spare parts as well as a waste management and collection scheme.

In the year ending 31 May 2006, it recorded sales of £5.4m and a group operating profit of £284,000.

Wolters said: “Day continues to be committed to creating more customer value, and that involves providing more services, support and product choices. This acquisition supports this commitment.”

Last year, the Flint Group bought Day International, the manufacturer and supplier of printing blankets and sleeves.
